About KAYRA 2001

Black Sea Yacht Rally KAYRA is an amateur initiative in positive sense concerning the countries surrounding the Black Sea, their citizens and the citizens of many different countries of the world willing to know people, nature and history of The Black Sea as a whole.

KAYRA is not a yacht race.

KAYRA is a cruise in company, organised in cooperation with amateur yachtsmen and open only to amateur yachtsmen to meet, to understand and to introduce their countries and their culture to each other by means of the seas.

KAYRA is an event for yachtsmen, able to sail within a program, demanding concentration, personal achievement, endurance, discipline, seaworthiness, social compliance, sense of community, adaptation, humour and friendship and a mind for exploration.

KAYRA will be organised in the awareness that, as a ground for work, profit, research, sport and leisure, the seas are common asset of the humanity and that they need to be treated and protected equally in peace with faith and respect. KAYRA is a model for developing a cooperation by means of exchanging ideas between the countries to help people to travel safely at sea, to be active in sports and enjoying life with happiness and health.

KAYRA is the way to introduce yachtsmen, ports, harbours and managers to each other and bringing them closer for developing yacht tourism in The Black Sea.

KAYRA is the idea to accelerate the necessary steps to be taken for developing yacht tourism in The Black Sea by building marinas, by facilitating and harmonising the entry formalities and by doing this gaining a considerable significance in the tourism map of the world.

KAYRA should be realised in coming years on different coordinated courses between the Black Sea countries targeting to stay throughout a year on the time table of the international seasonal yachting events.

To work for, to take part in, to support, acquire and sponsor KAYRA is a valuable service rendered to all the citizens of all the countries surrounding the Black Sea.

The Ukrainian part of KAYRA-98 included Sevastopol, Laspi bay, and Yalta.

On 58 days Yachts was gone 2000 sea miles. In Ukraine 45 yachts from 12 countries of the World visit Odessa, Kiev (by bus), Nikolaev, Herson, Sevastopol, Balaklava, Yalta and Feodosy.
